However, the safety of black cohosh is inconclusive. Conclusion In my clinical practice I have found quite a variable response to the use of black cohosh for menopausal symptoms, with some of my patients saying it was helpful while others found it was not useful at all. There may be a large placebo effect. Generally, at least four to twelve weeks of treatment may be required before any therapeutic benefits become apparent, so do not expect your hot flashes to disappear after taking one dose of the herb.
